Secure and practical identity-based encryption
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we present a variant of Waters’ Identity-Based Encryption scheme with a much smaller public-key size (only a few kilobytes). We show that this variant is semantically secure against passive adversaries in the standard model. In essence, the new scheme divides Waters’ public key size by a factor ` at the cost of (negligibly) reducing security by ` bits. Therefore, our construction settles an open question asked by Waters and constitutes the first fully secure practical Identity-Based Encryption scheme.

Secure and {\sl Practical} Identity-Based Encryption
In this paper, we present a variant of Waters’ Identity-Based Encryption scheme with a much smaller public-key size (only a few kilobytes). We show that this variant is semantically secure against passive adversaries in the standard model. In essence, the new scheme divides Waters’ public key size by a factor l at the cost of (negligibly) reducing security by l bits. Therefore, our construction...
متن کاملArtemia: a family of provably secure authenticated encryption schemes
Authenticated encryption schemes establish both privacy and authenticity. This paper specifies a family of the dedicated authenticated encryption schemes, Artemia. It is an online nonce-based authenticated encryption scheme which supports the associated data. Artemia uses the permutation based mode, JHAE, that is provably secure in the ideal permutation model. The scheme does not require the in...
متن کاملDirect Chosen-Ciphertext Secure Identity-Based Key Encapsulation Without Random Oracles
We describe a new and practical identity-based key encapsulation mechanism that is secure in the standard model against chosen-ciphertext (CCA2) attacks. Since our construction is direct and not based on hierarchical identity-based encryption, it is more efficient than all previously proposed schemes. Furthermore, we give the first chosen-ciphertext secure identity-based key encapsulation mecha...
متن کاملA tapestry of identity-based encryption: practical frameworks compared
This paper surveys the practical benefits and drawbacks of several identitybased encryption schemes based on bilinear pairings. After providing some background on identity-based cryptography, we classify the known constructions into a handful of general approaches. We then describe efficient and fully-secure IBE and IBKEM instantiations of each approach, with reducibility to practice as the mai...
متن کاملEfficient Selective-ID Secure Identity-Based Encryption Without Random Oracles
We construct two efficient Identity Based Encryption (IBE) systems that are selective identity secure without the random oracle model in groups equipped with a bilinear map. Selective identity secure IBE is a slightly weaker security model than the standard security model for IBE. In this model the adversary must commit ahead of time to the identity that it intends to attack, whereas in the sta...
